Best Hitch Mount Bike Rack

Recommended Posts

What does everyone think is the best hitch mounted bike rack? I have the Moto Jack Rack and it's junk. I don't want lightweight, I want heavy duty. I don't want it to tilt or jack up or even move at all. I just want a strong ramp on the back of my truck. Thanks for the help.

I'm surprised that you're not happy with the MJR. You may not have the heavy duty version. I do and it easily carries my XR and KTM. Very solid and sturdy. I've heard good things about the ultimate MX hauler.

Not sure what you are looking for here :)

I have the MJR and it has done the job for me with a KDX-200 and a WR-450.

I don't want it to tilt or jack up or even move at all.

Would a remote control help? :)

Mike, you may not be using it right.

- Tighten the hitch bolt which locks the carrier into the hitch.

- Thighten the pegs with your jack handle. The side without the gaps.

- Use tie downs to hold your handle bars/front tire. I tie mine down to the hitch hooks or loops.

I had a pig DRZ and felt the same as you untill I started to learn how to use it.

I have had the ramp load carriers that tie down to the handlebars and now I have the MJR, the MJR kicks azz. The ramp type may be a little faster to load, but not much. The MJR is just so solid and I love the idea of tying down to the pegs. :) Plus its easier to store and move when not in use. OH and I almost forgot how nice it is to lube my chain with the bike on the MJR. :)

To all you MJR lovers. Are your foot pegs in front of the locking pins or behind them when you load up?

Thanks for the help

I stick the pins right through the pegs.

Depends on the bike. Put the bike on the stand and which ever side the pegs are on that make the bike most stable then that is the way to go. For my DRZ the pegs were just outside the pegs and I would have to use the hooks to grab them. If you could get the bars to go through your pegs that would be good too. Bottom line the best position is the most stable position prior to putting the bars in the pegs.

I have the Joe Hauler 2 bike carrier, it's great! Very stable, it has a cam lock that tightens it up in the hitch, so it doesn't wobble all over the place.

Anyone use the Summers Racing rack. I saw an add in the back of dirt bike magazine, and it's only $189. It looks pretty cheap, but if Scott Summers is selling it ,it should work o.k. , right ? www.srcinc.net
