Dual Sportn in So Cal storming desert

Recommended Posts

Cool pics--looks like great riding.

What is the name of the location where you posted the ready to drop into the gorge photo? What is the name of the gorge? Maybe not the best trail for a storm day...

Thanks!

The drop into the gorge is Buttes Pass Trail. It is not a place to be during a rain storm. A storm had passed thru the area early on the morning of the day this ride was made. I started out on the Kane Springs Road, accessed off Split Mt Road, right after the rain had stopped. I cruised Kane Road to the Cactus Garden Trail , where many of the pictures posted at http://community.webshots.com/user/surfnmoto2

were taken, and explored that area for an hour or so. The Cactus Garden Area is street legal only territory , as are most of the trails I rode on this ride, and well worth a visit. I then proceeded west on Kane Road till it met up with the 78. Then headed east on 78 and found the turn off for Buttes Pass trail. Headed north, took some pics at the rim then dropped into the canyon. From the rim you can assess the ride down to and thru the bottom...see if the trail is flooded, washed out or muddy. Down in the canyon there was evidence of the previous nights rain: flooding and severe erosion. Great ride. Beautiful scenery and crystal clean air!
