Front Wheel Problem

Recommended Posts

When I put my bike on a stand and spin the front wheel it is easy to see that it is not spinning straight. I have tightened the spokes several times and put on a Michelen S-12. I dont think the wheel is bent because I havent had any bad crashes. Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.

I've got a rim on my 3 week old CRF that has an S shape. (I hit a sharp rock in 3rd or 4th though). I loosened all the spokes in the area of the bend. Used a ruler (pensil would work) attached to the fork, and by tightening and loosening spokes was able to get it almost straight. Alot better than it was anyways. With a little bend I'm sure you could work it out with this method.

Of course you need to suspend the front end so you can spin the wheel. Then just keep advancing the straigt edge closer and closer as you tighten the opposing spokes to pull it straight.

What the heck, its free! Give her hell!
