Look into an FMF Q pipe.

I've put them on everything from my 2 stroke Desert Race Car to my 450's and have always been pleased with the results. :D

They tone the sound down, give it a more throaty, yet mellow tone. Increases lower/mid range and doesn't seem to hurt the top end at all. :naughty:

I think they say 92 db (maybe 94?) output.

Ah - here it is on FMF's site: FMF Q Pipe

The Ti Q has a completely new design, engineered for maximum performance while maintaining a sound level at or near 93dB on most models.

Stock's supposed to be 98 db, isn't it? :naughty:

It would be wonderful to see one of the mags do an unbiased test of quiet pipes for the 2005 CRF 450! I have my eyes on the WB E2 system but won't bite the bullet until I see a comparison test on them!

Options I'm aware of:

White Brothers

FMF

ProCircuit

Akrapovic?

Big Gun quiet, is it out yet?

Yosh with Insert?

HMF Engineering has a good priced quiet performance pipe with an optional quiet insert and sparky for the 02 and 03 models. Heavier than the titanium pipes though.

Wonder if MRD, Thunder Alley, CHM will have quiet pipes introduced for the 05 CRF 450?

We wait anxiously!

Did you notice any power loss at all when you put the endcap on?

Not at all. The PMB endcap keeps the exhaust core the same size, but allows the spark arrestor screen (needed in CA) to be inserted/removed with 4 allens. Ive riden with the screen in and out, and no noticble differences. My friend has an 05, with the same setup, and uses the quiet insert also. He's afraid to get a ticket, and i think he looses power bc of it. His measured at 93db, but hasnt had his tested without the quiet insert. 96db is the max here for trail riding and enduro/harescramble competition.

I can make you one quieter than stock, no problem , but it would lose a bit of power , I dont think it would be very noticable SOTP though , I have seen stock pipes put out as much as 108 db , old packing , 99 db new packing :naughty:

by an X exhaust if you want quiet. I just got one for my 05.

Why can't someone engineer an exhaust that is quiet, looks good and performs?? :naughty: I think there is a big market for this, and if not, there will soon be with all the noise issues for complaining neighbors :naughty: .

most pipe co's are working on this ,but its going to be hard to have all three , looks, quiet, performance, with the limited space & weight issue's , you can get a quiet performer but they have to be very long . how does the X pipe feel SOTP ?
