X-Ring

Recommended Posts

I just got a DID X-Ring for my 250R, suggested by someone in here. Well, at Rocky Mountain the 114 link chain was backordered, so I grabbed a 118. So now I have to break it.

While breaking it the head of the bolt on my chain breaker sheared off. What the heck do I do now? I have tried drille the bolt out, but that will take days. The bit goes no where. Any suggestions?

Do you have a bench grinder or disc grinder? Just grind the 2 heads off the link and you can pry the link off with a screwdriver. Takes about 30 seconda.

I don't even use a chain breaker because it's so easy to just grind the heads off.

That's what I do. I use my bench grinder or angle grinder to grind off the heads, then punch the rest of the pin out with a punch.
