One last pic of the old girl. Sold her on to an older gentleman who needed an XR650R to finish off his XR collection.

Sweet, tell us more!

1985 XR600RF the first XR600 and(imo) the sexiest. This bike, affectionately known as “Turds” is a 6000km genuine machine. The last numbers in it vin are 5000050 making it the 29th Australian delivered XR600. The original owner from new crashed it heavily in 88 broke his leg and never rode it again it scared the shit out of him so much his mates nicknamed him Turds. He is still called Turds to this day. 😂. I found this bike in December last year and bought it off the third owner. The second and third owner only managed 1500km between them. It was a mess and hadnt run since 2000ish due to a bad stator. I stripped it down and to my suprise all the bearings and seals were perfect. Had minimal surface rust on the frame which i wire wheeled off rust converted and repainted in the genuine flash red. The engine was un touched and valve clearances and compression were perfect. I pulled the carbs off cleaned and rejetted them fitted the new stator and &%$#@! me if it didn’t start first kick. Only a honda.

The bike was brought brand new from Herbert Motors Cleve. S.A. My Grandfathers Honda,  GMHolden, and John Deere Dealership. My Dad was the Salesman that actually sold it.

Nasty before shots. Rims were coroded to powder in some spots, hence the new rims. The rear gaurd and enduro meter were detroyed in the crash. They are new also. Went with a trail tech speedo/tacho. Everything else is original including the seat and cover.
