Long story short- got rid of my DRZ400SM and got this instead. I missed the dirt too much.

Specs: 1996 XR600R with a 2001 crate motor.

Acc: 4.0 gal tank, Al Baker's exhaust, Acerbis plastics, excel wheels, AceWell computer and some other misc stuff. I put on some Renthal kevlar grips, handguards and mirrors yesterday. USD conversion is in the works now.

Today:

good looking bike SagMan.

Thank you! The previous owner didn't believe in degreaser, so I've spent all my free time cleaning it up.

Hadn't seen any updates in this section in a few days, so I thought I would throw mine up here. Updated her a little. Put a bigger tank, opened up the Airbox, Acerbis mirrors (which are pretty useless by the way), and an Endurance Speedo.

what kind of tank is that cbretr2? sucks to hear about the mirrors. i hate when stuff like that happens when i buy new parts. they look a little small and they dont stick out enough. that a crf 400 fender with the baja designs tail light? ive done the same with my bike. how is it working out for you? any problems so far?

Its a Clarke 4 gallon. That upgrade has been needed for a long time. I took a chance with the mirrors. The originals broke when it fell over in the garage. Kickstand is to long with the 17in wheels on it. Almost sits vertical. I still have the dirt wheels and ride dirt every now and then. Mirrors vibrate a lot and yes they dont stick out far enough. Have to work for now.

That is a crf fender i had laying around(front and back) from my 450r. Got an Acerbis sumo front fender but it doesn't stop mud to well when the 21in is on. Just never changed it back. Yes Baja designs LED taillight. No problems so far.

so today I was going to go out for a ride, almost got to my buddies house, when the bike died, thought it was maybe out of gas, so i pulled in the clutch and went on reserve. I was still rolling so i popped it up into 3rd to try to roll start it, but no luck. stopped and pulled of to the side to try and kick it. the engine was siezed. this had happened before once and it ran fine after i let it cool down. so i let it sit and got a cup of coffee. i came back out to start her up, but i couldnt find tdc. the kick start would turn and turn but no hard point. it was harder to kick through the cycles and it has a weird squeek sound from the cylinder. any ideas on what happened or what the problem is??? it was running just fine 2 weeks ago i took it out on a 6 hr ride no overheating nothing. i has just been out of service because i cracked the tank in a biff about 3 rides ago.

Hi all, long time stalker first time poster.
Had my xr600r a few years now brought it with everything done lucky.
Anyway it has sat in the shed for 3 or so years regoed and ready to
Roll just to lazy to get my Lience. Now have it and I'm riding it to work
Everyday saving ks on the car doing about 200 250 km a week,
Loving the bike hasn't missed a beat but doing 80% of that
Highway I want to set up for 100% road.
I have picked up a set of cbr600 rims done some maching on them
Got them to start fitting and taking shape but gave up on the idea
Now I have my Lience it's back on.

Has anyone on here done it? how much work is realy involved? Is the
Juice worth the squeeze?? Ect ect. Send in your pics cbr rims or not
show me your rigs!!  I will have plenty more questions to ask you all that have
       Cheers.

I'm getting down to the end of working on a nearly bolt on EFI conversion for my xr650l (and maybe yours too!)
Our bikes only came with crank sensors so have provisions for mounting them, nbd.
Cam sensors on the other hand...
I believe I can use what appears to be a very convient casting in the valve cover that with a little milling should accomadate a standard sensor. It lines up almost perfectly with the camshaft. I've already found that there is some variance in how Honda cast these bosses, ie: with or without holes in them. Doesn't matter though, just a few more chips left on the table after the machine work.
So what I could use are few quick measurements to make sure this works.
Need inner and outer diameter of the two bosses(red and blue) as well as the center to center distance of the two.

Hey all, after a busy summer of school and work I've finally carved out some time to replace my busted countershaft. After reviewing several threads about the kickstart addition, I decided this would be my chance to have a kickstart/easy button combo bike. Luckily enough I found a '95 XR600R basket case with a blown head but very useable bottom end with all the kicker bits I need!
Pulled out the engine last night and now I need a little bit of sagely advice from the wise folks here at TT:
First, I need a gasket set for the rebuild, will Winderosa/Mooseracing be okay, or should I only put in OEM gaskets? Also, I'll be splitting both cases this week to get all the parts out and begin putting them in the L, but is there anything specifically I should be looking out for when inspecting the donor parts? Any tips on splitting the cases in general? Finally, I know there's been a handful of people who have done this mod, and I know everything fits into place in the L bottom end nicely, but has anyone had any strange issues? This bike will be carrying myself and some gear to Baja this winter for ~3 weeks and it needs to be dead reliable, or at least as reliable as it was last year in baja.
Thanks to everyone on the boards who has helped me out thus far, the kickstart add on threads are very helpful! I should say, this is my first complete tear down so any advice/tips are very welcome!
Here's a pic of the engines out on bench:
