I'm sure you read some of my questions I have asked on this site. Thank You Sir for starting this. This site really helps me with my WR. Good luck to you, with all you endeavors.

Thank you for taking the responsibilty of taking over. I am sure I speek for everyone who uses this web site !

Bill ... There was nothing personal in there...

But I have seen message boards where a 'moderator' who shouldn't have been made moderator (IMO) deleted other peoples posts (not mine) just because he didn't agree with them... and because other people had come to have hard feelings toward that moderator.

He was removed.

That is what I am afraid of.

Free speech is the #1 in our constitution. For good reason.

Now... this a privately owned message board and it's owner can delete anything he wants at any time.

But if people are not allowed to speak their mind .... then I don't like it.

Yet as clean as this site is (and it is one of the cleanest)... You sound like you want to "put a stop" to something.

I haven't seen anything that needs being stopped.. From what you said you apparently already tried to edit and delete somebody elses post......... That bothers me.

That's all... And I don't see any reason to take this offline.

Right Bill, Its OK for you to swear in front of your kid, but not OK for him to read it?

By saying you would like to be Mr moderater, you are saying that Bryan hasn't been doing a good job.

Would you delete this post I am now posting because it is not "friendly" to you?

I'm afraid you would use it to eliminate whatever YOU don't like... like a communist government.

Maybe delete the m***f*** word itself... but not the whole post... or an opinion you simply don't agree with.

To be a good and fair moderator you have to have a very open mind.

There is an awful lot of "you"'s :) in here for me, not to take this personally.

But Whatever :D

Bill :D

You'll still have some free time to ride won't you? I'm mean the snow is starting to melt as you know and it won't be long until we can ride Rampart / Woodland. Thanks for introducing this site. I have learned much and spent more, but best of all, I got to meet good riding buddies in you, Kerry, Cary, Jake, Jason, Ron and Dave. And I have been to Moab many times. Oh boy, there I go, crying like a baby. Call me when you can ride again.

Bryan and Ron in SoCal,

I could possibly be of assistance.

I am quite computer literate. I have some experience with Adobe GoLive, Adobe Photoshop and ImageReady. These are some great web site developement tools.

Below is a link to my web site that I wrote for my business

If you need some help along the way, I would be happy to lend a hand.

Let me know if you need some assistance.

Ron, did we meet at White Bros?.

Anyway thanks to everyone for help along the way. This usergroup has been a great asset.

I'm not sure whether to say thanks, or tell you how much I hate YOU!

Here is what you've done too me!

1. You've made me stay up way too late.

2. You've made me wake up way too early.

3. You've made me spend way too much money.

Thanks so much Bryan!

I can't thank you enough for this site. You have been able to bring alot of great people together to share common interests, problems, and solutions. I am sure many friendships have been made on this site. It has let me keep my sanity at work when all I can do is dream about riding. The knowledge here is a 1000x better then any you could get at any Yamaha dealership. I think Yamaha owes you a debt of gratitude also.

You need to take your bike out and unwind. Get rid of some of that stress.

Free speach is a right, one that should not be abused simply to prove you have it. Some people stand behind it to hurle attacks at others. Some indignant people feel it makes everything they say righteous. Most like on TT just use it to make informed opinions in the quest to help others. There are appropiate times to censure. A free society only works when there are limits, thats why we have laws. The laws are for the selfish who think there are no limits to freedom.

finglan... for somebody who's been here a whole month... sorry... but I ain't taking your opinion for much.

You see everybody saying how nice this site is?

Well, that is WITHOUT somebody like Bill deciding what is best for us.

Bryan has been the owner/moderator... and apparently he doesn't see the need for tight rules regarding behavior.

So why does Bill?

Or you?

Seeing as how you are a cop its not hard to figure that one out.

Most of my opinion here comes from a site who appointed a "moderator" who saw fit to delete other peoples posts just because he didn't like them... there was no profaanity or pornography.

Just opinions he didn't like.

Do you agree with that?

Hell... it ain't going to matter... at the rate they are closing down land and requiring emissions limits on bikes (yes..including dirtbikes, if they are ridden on public land)... and new EPA/DOT rules requiring tickets for nonstock exhaust pipes and all.. nobody will even be riding dirtbikes in 20 years anyway.

All because some people want to control other peoples behavior for no real benefit.

I hope being a member here only two weeks doen't take away from my opinion. Obviously you are an advocate for free speech etc.. which I'm sure everybody is. A moderators position is not that of dictating what can be said, which I'm quite sure wasn't said or implied by Bill. Sometimes advocates for free rights only think of there rights and forget everybody elses. If in general a majority of the people/members find certain speech/conduct offensive, then definetly a moderator has the right to edit/delete what is percieved to be offensive, that is a moderators job. Swearing in general through a public forum is indeed considered offensive by a majority of people espescially when free access to minors etc.. is available. Thankfully people are available to offer there time in reviewing submissions, not to remove the rights of contributors, but to protect the rights of whom the material may come in contact with.

Man are you antiestiblishment. You assume that because I am a cop I want controll everything. Yes I have only been a member for a month. I have been interacting with people for 35yrs. and I have read every post you have made in the last month. You sir are confrontational and annoying. You don't have the guts to register and I can't believe I am wasting my time on replying to your remarks.

Everyone!!... Hail to the king and guardian of all forms, the gate keeper of free speach, justice, and freedom.

The Great DeBarker!!!

If time on the board gives impact to opinion, then my is four times as valuable as yours (my 360+ posts to your 90).....Give me a break! I don't think you value anyone's opinion, except yours!

I'M JUST TRYING TO HELP. You could have done the same, but you were to busy blasting me. Then you got so caught up in yourself blasting me, you forgot to thank Brayn, for what he has done. You had to make a second post to do that.

Bryan has little time to keep the site running, let alone moderated. Again, I was just trying to offer the assistance I could provide. Quite beating a dead horse!

Have trouble with law enforcement officers? You have insulted every peace officer in the world with your statement. I hope you remember this next time you need a cop. I hope you never do.

Why so synical?

All because some people want to control other peoples behavior for no real benefit.[/b]

You are a coward hiding behind words without regard to anyone else, using your first amendment rights, like the KKK. You need to get over yourself, grow up and get a life.

I apologize to Bryan and the ThumperTalk community. I knew this would happen and I tried my best to take it off line, but DeBarker is not man enough to discuss this via the phone. I will not lay down and let someone take pot shots at me. Especially when I have done nothing to this man other than offer my help to Bryan.

Again I aopoligize to you all.

Bryan- Thank you VERY much for hosting this site as long as have. Can't tell you how much it has helped me learn and setup the bike--exactly your intentions from the beginning. You are DA MAN!!!

Bryan and Ron in SolCal- drop me an email sometime at I'm in no way knowledgeable enough or have time for site development, but I may be able to help with bandwidth and/or server space. Let's talk about it.

And if I DO help, I'm voting for Bill as a moderater...

Bryan, thanks so much for what you have created here. It has been a great help to me to have so much information and the personal experiences of so many to draw upon. This is just one of the great benefits of the Web and sites like this. I'm sure Ron and the others will keep this going and do a great job. Thanks again and good luck with what ever you do. PM. :)

right now on the tv is the life of brian by monty python, i hope you've seen it, it's brilliant.

anyway there is this scene at the end where lot's of people come up to "thank brian for all you've done", then there's his scalding mother (that's the little tet-a-tet above).

anyway i've had a chuckle. all we need now is the japanese suicide squad to arrive to cap it all.

thanks for all you've done from me too.

& as the film goes...

i've a pardon here for the release of bryan

"i'm brian"!

"i'm brian"!!

"my wife & i are brian"!!!

We have never formally spoke, but, I would like to thank you for making my dive into the WR400 much more pleasurable. I'm a member of a few "special interest" sites, but ThumperTalk is head and shoulders above the rest in the quality of postings.

[This message has been edited by c2 (edited 02-26-2001).]

Thanks for everything. I am lacking computer skills and don't even have one at home, otherwise I would do what I can to help. If there is anything I can do without a computer to help let me know.

I would give my opinion on the other subjects diverting the topic from your origonal posts, but since I have been a member for only a few months, I am not sure my opinion counts......

DeBarker...why don't you start another post about how much better you are than everyone else and how your opinion is the only opinion. The level of your mentality, dogging people who volunteer sugestions or help, is below that of grade school children. I sugest you go back and pay a little more attention to Sesame Street. This shouldn't bother you since I am sure my opinion doesn't count either. Actually, I take that back. To me it is you opinion that no longer counts. I am done with this and will post no more on the DeBarker issues.

Sorry for wasting space on this opinionated topic. Anything I can do to help

I will.

Great job Bryan! Once again it's Monday and reading Thumpertalk is the most exciting thing I will do all day! Except go home and see if the new 250f wants to start today :)

Thanks for all the time and hard work you have put into this site. You should be proud that you have created a very successful web site that's helpful and fun! Thumpertalk is one of the reasons that I am riding a Yamaha this year.

Have you ever contacted Yamaha to see if they would provide financial support for the site? They must be aware of the site. One of their "Team Mechanics" has posted here. I think this would be an excellent marketing oppurtunity for them....just a thought.

Thanks again,
