4-Stroke advantages on tracks

Recommended Posts

I was watching a motocross race yesterday, and there wasnt a single 2-stroke in the 125cc class. I was just wondering what the advantages are on a 4-stroke while on the track.

Actually, 250 four strokes dont have much more H.P at all really then a 125 two stroke. It just has TONNSSSS of more torque because its twice the displacment. A four stroke has power every where in the RPM range, where as two strokes only produce good power in the upper RPM range.

darks right, if I'm not mistaken the KTM and Yamaha have more hp than any 250 thumper barring the new sxf, and rumors have it that the new KTM 125 will have 40+ hp 🙂🙂

In my opinion, the advantages are torque and compression braking.

The horses are not far off if you have a properly ridden two stroke.

But the torque and the compression braking are some things a two stroke CANNOT, no matter HOW MUCH motor work is done, compete with.

I love compression braking. 🙂
