Clutch Rebuild?

Recommended Posts

What parts am I going to want to replace when rebuilding the clutch, will one of those pre-packaged clutch kits work? Also what modifacation might I want to do to get the clutch to perform more smoothly? Any help is great thanks

Look @ your baskets and see if they are grooved. If not, wait until they are

grooved. The Barnett kit works well. Get you an MSR Raptor clutch lever

and set it on the easy pull (3 settings).

the stock clutch is fragile, an EBC clutch is worse( I smoked it in one race and ruined my clutch basket). I went with a complete Barnett clutch(fibers, steels, springs) and a new stock basket and pressure plate and the Barnett is holding up much better

The stock basket is crap. It it's not grooved, consider yourself lucky. I went with OEM fibers and steels with heavy duty springs (EBC), a Hinson basket, OEM inner hub and pressure plate. So far, everything's working great. The basket is the weak link in this bike's clutch IMO.
