CRF450X Suspension

Recommended Posts

I need everyone's help. I have a new 05 CRF450X and love it. Although I have been riding street bikes for years I'm new to dirt riding. I'm somewhat of a aggressive rider who rides about 50% of the time at the track and 50% riding extreme trails. I'm 6'1" 245lbs. I definitely feel like I need to replace my stock spring front and rear with after market springs. I have NO idea what brands I have to choose from and which ones are the best, I don't have ANY idea where to get the best deals on stuff for dirt bikes, and most importantly I have no idea what size springs to get? Can anyone help??

Brands to choose from?

Best place to buy from?

Spring rates for me?

Thanks!!!

I also tip the scale at just under two-fiddy. I had Eboch springs and Pro Action valving for woods riding, it was a night and day difference from stock. I can go almost twice as fast in tight rought woods trails.

Can I get away with just buying springs and putting them on myself and not do any re-valving? I called Factory Connection they recommend a 4.9 & 6.1.

I really don't want to spend a lot of money to start. I would prefer to buy the springs first and re-valve later if I can.

Another source here in CA is ESP in Tujunga. George used to work for Scott's Performance before opening his own shop give him a call he's really easy to talk to and gives advice freely (818) 951-9144. I would think you could just do the springs but ask George.
