Anyone have the acerbis tank on their 05?

I got the part number from acerbis: 11745782 for blue and 11745713 for white.....not sure if this is the GYT-R tank, but I think so...

I have been finding out that the 05 WR is more like the YZ in a lot of ways and am wondering if I can use the same rad guards and shrouds I am now... Devol and stock respectively...

The 05 seat is the same as the YZ so when you put the tank on put the "t" bolt in the YZ position, the Ascerbis Tank usually causes some problems on the right side (sitting on bike) with Rad guards and braces, but usually a hammer and a cutting tool can make it work ?

That tank belongs on this bike, 100 mile range ?

Bill, The GTY-R is made by Acerbis and does use the stock WR shrouds, you will have to move your kick are up one notch on the spline to make it fit in the indention in the tank, other than that it fits perfectly. Not sure if the Devol guards will fit, hopefully another member knows. Here's a pic of my bike with the stock shrouds. Good luck..

whats the go with the yz seat bolt position??????? I have a wr450 '05 and don't remember seeing any options on the bolt at the tank.

The YZ "option" is just a threaded hole on the top of the tank where the "T" shaped plastic seat guide goes into, I guess this is why the tank fits older and newer bikes just the same.. Someone in the Acerbis engineering dept. should get props for the design for making one product fit many bikes with the option.. :applause:

Damn... I ordered/received the wrong tank in early April sent it back and I still haven't gotten the replacement.

Ok... I installed the tank today and it fits great! Even with my Devol radiator guards on... I sat on it a bit and it didn't seem any different feeling than the stock tank...

The only problem I have is getting the fuel lines run (there are dual petcocks on this tank) so they actually get gas to the carb... The instructions suck so if anyone could help me out here I would appreciate it! Thanks!!

Oh, I also removed the AIS and installed the ThumperTalk AIS Smog Removal Kit - http://shop.thumpertalk.com/product_p/int_thumpertalk_aissrk.htm - I didnt get to ride it yet but it was a simple installation...

First off, throw away the line that came with the tank, it sucks to work with and gets brittle fast. I used some of the Motion Pro 1/4" Tygon fuel line and a brass 5/16" fuel tee. I ran the line from the right side petcock in front of the carb but far enough from the head and connected it to the vertical leg of the tee. The line from the left petcock connects to one side of the horizontal portion of the tee and continues to the carb from the remaining connection. The nice part about using a 5/16" tee is that you don't need to use any hose clamps with the 1/4" hose. I have many miles on this set up without any issues whatsoever, and when I need to disconnect from it, I have one hell of a time getting the line off. It's a very solid connection.

From your pics, it looks like you may have moved your kickstarter back by more than one spline. You'll have trouble with your footpeg interfering with a complete stroke. If you put it back one spline, it will still fit in the indentation on the tank, but it may also mar the plastic. Here's another tip to alleviate that problem. Take a small piece of automotive transmission hose and put it over the footpeg area of the kickstarter with about 1/8" extra off the end. That will keep the lever wedged in the tank niche nicely, and if you cut the hose nice, it looks very clean ..SC

I agree that the kick arm needs to be moved, mine is moved and the plastic shows no signs of marring...

Also, I just finished installing two inline fuel filters for my Acerbis tank, one for each petcock... Took a while to figure that one out..

My lever put a black mark on the tank...not like I care, but the tranny tubing cured it from vibrating around. I tried to do the filter thing, but I couldn't figure out the routing without adding an extra 6" of fuel line. You got pics Dan?...SC
