Steering damper bowing????

Recommended Posts

I am going to be purchasing a gpr steering stabilizer for my RMZ250 and it said the cross bar must be removed and "bowed". Can someone tell me what bowing is? Is there anything i should do to prep my bike for installation and any tips on installing it?

Bowing is 'bending' the cross-bar to fit over the steering stabilizer. DON'T Do THAT. It weakens the cross-bar and I can't believe they advocate that action.

Purchase the oversize bar mount kit or else you can go with the new GPR 3.0 which goes under the bar but is pricey.

I have the GPR on my KXF with Pro-tapers. The oversize bar adapters are only $50.00.

Tips on the install is really only to get a straight post. Some people go to the trouble of making up a jig but I just got a freind to tack weld it. It is a little crooked but works.

But what if i just took the crossbar off and put the stabilizer on and left the crossbar off. I have been riding with it off for a while and it seems to be good.
