uglybob26 Posted July 9, 2005 so i'm having problems with my mikuni pumper carb set up The bike is running with a uni filter, snorkel removed, standard can with a uk made open tip, and I'm at sea level, by the beach. 125 main 15 pilot pump set to come on as late as possible when i wind the power on the bike is fine, but when i crack it to lift the front wheel, the engine dies for a split second, to ride, it feels like the kill switch has flicked off then back on (throwing all the weight forward) before coming back to life. it doesn't feel like the engine bog suffered by the standard carb, as that used to give a deep tone while thinking about giving you more power. anybody offer any suggestions? I'm just about to strip the carb and check there are no blocked jets Cheers Julian
WoodsPilot Posted July 9, 2005 It sounds like the accelerator pump is flooding with too much gas. I dont know about the Mikuni, but on the Edelbrock you can adjust how much gas the A/P throws in when you pump it. If you have the manual or access to online docs I would read up on adjusting the Mik A/P. good luck, -Russ

Hondaman24 Posted July 10, 2005 I have the Mikuni, and never have had a problem. What does the plug reading look like?
uglybob26 Posted July 10, 2005 think i got it... a bit of crud was stopping the pumper mechansim moving freely, preventing the pump from doing the business. A quick blast with some carb cleaner and a dash of WD40 seem to have sorted this out... so i'm off to rebuild & test as the sun is shining. btw the plug looks good.
