Valve Adjustments? Backfiring?

Recommended Posts

I own a 05 CRF250R and it is a sick bike. My question is do all of these bikes have a loud valve train? When i get up into high speeds and deaccelerate you get some back firing. Is this normal for these bikes or is an adjustment needed?

It sounds like a lean condition. You may want to go to a bigger main jet.

I agree. sounds like a lean condition definately adjust the fuel screw first. Most likely you won't have to re-jet.

Mine was doing the same thing along with not wanting to idle, turned fuel screw to 2 turns out and bike idles and doesn't pop anymore.

well it idles and runs really smooth, but when you deaccelerate it just pops. Backfiring out of the exhaust not intake

When you are talking about the fuel screw, which screw is that? I'm looking in my owners manual and the only thing that comes close to a fuel screw is the pilot screw. Are you talking about that one?
