Fork size help

Recommended Posts

I have an '04 yzf250 with some sweet enzo suspension worth $2500+ and I am buying an '03 yzf 450. I want to keep the enzo stuff and I was wondering the '03 fork for the 450 are 48mm.

No, the '03 YZ forks are 46mm.

You might want to see if the internal parts (cartridge, base valve, etc) will swap into the legs of the '03.

If not, you might be able to swap the entire front end assembly.

:applause:

What exactly did you have done by enzo that was worth $2500. I'm assuming you have some trick goodies on those things??

The internal parts on the '04 48mm KYB are the same physical size as the '03 46mm KYBs on the YZ450. The internals will interchange.

As far as the '03 YZ450 goes. Have you ridden one? The motor is brutal on the '03. By far the worst year as far as power delivery goes. Very dependable, it's just a light switch. We spent the entire '03 season trying to get that bike calmed down. Changed the cam timing, fly wheel weight, gearing, multiple base gaskets, the list goes on...

The '04 is "Light Years" better and the '05 is a little too mellow.
