Slow return on the RPMs??

Recommended Posts

My buddy just bought a 2000 ttr 225. When you throttle it if reves great, but RPMs take a couple of seconds to come down. It goes vroooooooom instead of a quick vroom. Kinda hard to explaine. The RPMs just don't snap back down.

Is this normal for these bikes? Its carb is different that anything I have delt with. It seems to be vacume operated by that large diaphram on the top.

The throttle cable is free and clear, not sticky at all.

It sounds like you're describing a "hanging idle" which usually indicates a lean condition on the pilot circuit. Try backing out the fuel screw 1/4-1/2 turn and see if that fixes it. If not, you may have to go up one size on the pilot jet.

Search the forums for hanging idle and you'll get more responses.
