cam chain

does anyone know with a slack chain if there is enough room in the case to jump a tooth on the crank gear while having the cam removed

Yes, there is. Some guys have had it fall right off the lower gear.

That's why you always use the timing marks.

Right Said Fred. I just shimmed my exhaust the other night and while reinstalling the cam I shifted it a tooth on the lower sprocket...no big deal as long as you verify timing with the marks...
