I think I got ripped!

So I purchase a Magura clutch on e-bay for $150. The description of item is for a slightly used Magura " Jack " clutch kit. There is even a pic with the box & part number. So everything seems cool, right?

When I get the item home & start installing it I notice the directions are for a Yamaha. After installation was complete, I start to test the unit & notice air is escaping from the slave cylinder every time I actuate the lever. The pull was also stiffer than the OEM:foul:

Obviously I got ripped! My question is... Can anyone identify if this is actually a " Jack " unit? Judging by different pics that I have seen I don't think it is. If the guy that sold me this thing fraudulently identified its description, maybe I can return the damn thing :D Thanks in advance...

Here are some pics...

hopefully it just needs adjusting. Nost clutches can be universal. Give us a review when you get it working right.... been thinking about trading the works connection perch for it, but havent decided.

That's the older style Jack unit and it's normal to hear air escaping from the slave cylinder. I find it hard to believe it's a harder pull than the cable though.

I don't know... Maybe it has to do with needing to bleed the unit. It might not be that much stiffer, but it definately is not better than stock. ( especially not a $150. better )

i never liked hyrdo clutch.. my friend always has problems out of his hes replaced it twice in the past 3 months it keeps leaking no matter what he does too it

That's the exact same one that I have on my CRF, no issues. You need to stop that air leak and bleed it out properly.

Hey, that mount is trick looking. Where did you hook up with that? Does it do a better job of keeping the slave cylinder from hanging off the side of the case?

I'm afraid mine is going to get ripped off the bike with using the OEM mount...

Also, how exactly would I go about fixing the air leak? I don't have a manual.

The mount came with it from Magura. The one I bought for my 03 didn't have it, so that's probably what you received. The one I bought this year for my 05 came with it.

I will never own another MX bike with a cable clutch. I love the feel and consistency of the hydraulic. I would pay $300 for it if I had to.

You should call Magura with your questions. Once, I lost the ball end off the rod, and they were extremely helpful. They shipped me a new part right away, no questions asked.

Yeah, I sent an e-mail to Lonnie over at Magura explaining my situation. ( Haven't heard back yet ) I don't know how responsive they will be to assisting me, do to the fact that I picked it up second hand?
