I've got a 2006 X, CCC Mods, and I'm hitting the rev limiter in 5th and topping out at 69.9 on the street per my Vector. That's the fastest I've gotten - usually it's been around 67.

Taht is about what I have gotten, on a hard pack dirt fire road, also with a trail tech. My speed was 68.?, which matches a shootout in a magazine comparo between an R and an X.

My gps logged a 72 once, stock gears, no real mods, snorkel off 135main. Wasn't trying to go top speed, just noticed it later in the max log.

One day on a dry lake bed with a very strong tail wind, I recorded 86 mph on my trail tech computer. However, when I turned around and was going into the wind, the bike topped out at 59 mph. The speed was greatly affected by the wind. Typically, top speed is about 72 mph.

I have no idea about stock, but I'm sure it is not that fast.

Modded with 14/48 it can get to low 80's pretty easily.

OK, I ran some numbers to get some idea of what is actually capable.

With stock gearing (14/53) and a stock tire 100/100/18, redline (12,500) in 5th generates 86.4mph. With a 110/100/18 tire, that goes up to 89mph. pulling 10,000rpm is 70mph.

my stock 1986 z50 went 40mph so i think a 250x would go faster then 45. my friend has one and he has a trailtech vapor, and he went 79mph.
