riding area for my wife &7yr old son?

I'm looking for a spot to take my wife & son riding both are very new and a little unsure about their abilities. I guess fire roads and easy single or double track.I'm looking for areas off hwy 80 or hwy 50 thanks for the help.

donwag, where's 80,50 hwy? El Mirage east of Palmdale is a great learning ground. Hope that helps?

Have you been to Praire City? I learned there...has hills, trails and a practice track. Great place to learn. It is right off of 50 in Folsom

Try it out, it is an easy place to learn the basics, I know because I am still learning them myself.

Thanks Bigbob I was thinking the same thing so I P.M'ed olddude the elkins guru for a map pdf. I look forward to being able to ride with you guys some time when I can pick up the pace.Tha ks again bigbob !

From these pages you can get to the PDFs of the trails. Hint: print them and then use a copier to blow them to a size that you can read and decipher on the trail.

Both areas have great riding for every level.

Gordie, the Elkins page has a map but the Gold Note page just gives trail descriptions, no map.

The maps are available at most of the El Dorado National Forest stations. I don't know the location of one on the way into the area. Maybe some one else can help.
