02 just as fast as the 05's?

Hey, I got a 02 yz250f, hotcams, power now, and suspension, looking to get exhaust soon, do you think the 02's have just as much power as the new ones?

The difference between the 02 and 05 isnt enough to make the 02 no longer competitive. If youre racing, any thumper will do.

The 3 pound loss wasnt much from my 02 to my 03, but they changed the ergonomics on the bike to the point that just one ride on the 03 made the 02 feel like you were riding on a tank. They have been refining the feel of the bike each year so that even the 05 feels better than my 04's and it's less than 2 pounds lighter.

By the way I could feel the added 3 pounds from just hanging the Q2 pipe on.

I feel MUCHH faster if I take a dump before I race, otherwise the extra pound or two slows me down.

I have an 02 and an 05. My 02 is faster because it has mods and the 05 is stock. However, the 05 is noticably lighter and better suspended.

Yes, that's true, thanks for asking. Six lbs. is a big deal if you are in tune with your bike at all. If you're clueless about all this moto stuff, don't hate the player, hate the game...

Yeah newer are faster, I am used to my 02 now and love it with the little mods I have done. I keep up with brand new YZF's....

I had an 02, great bike fast, but my 05 is G.O.A.T. Yes, you can feel the weight difference and ergos make it awesome. There is also a different power delivery between the two.
