02' XR400 Largest Tire

Recommended Posts

Hello All,

TWhat is the largest tire you have run on your XR4?

Stock Rear 110/100-18

Stock front ??/??-21

I have run 130/80-18 (130mm tall x 104mm wide)

I want to know about the 120/100-18 (120mm tall x 120mm wide)????

Also the 140/80-18 (140mm tall x 112mm wide)???

I think I have the #'s right.

The first # is the sidewall height and the second # is the % of the height that is the width. If I am wrong please correct me.

Anyway, if anyone has used these sizes please respond.

Thanks,

D

Rear - Pirelli MT21 140, rode home at 40 mph for 25 miles, on road, after ripping out a tyre valve! O.K. in a straight line, made for some 'interesting' moments around sharpish corners though :banghead:

Just fitted a Pirelli Scorpion Pro on the Front, as recommended by the Master Mr. Dwight Rudder, strangely enough, noticed it was also a standard fitment on a friends brand new KTM525 (U.K.) too!

Hey! it aint what ya got, it's what ya do with it that counts.

I run about 6-10 psi in em too.

Hope ya stay upright....

i've got an IRC vulcenduro rear thats 5.10" x 100 x 18 (same as 130.100.18) and it hooks up great and wears VERY long and is not an expensive tyre. i would recommend it fo shizzle.

some have mentioned using a 140, but noted that it rubs slightly on the stock muffler...not big deal. the 5.10" seems to barely graze the muffle as well. in america bigger is better for sure!

I've run these sizes. Depending where you are riding, bigger is not always better. More weight = slower speed build up, slower shock action. Bigger = harder to spin the rear wheel and rear wheel steer.

Also, I have noticed the Kenda Milleville is much taller than the Trackmaster II.

Dunlop (stock)

Front: 80/100-21

Rear : 110/100-18

Kenda: 120/100-18

MT21

Front: 90/90-21

Rear : 130/90-18
