drz weight

Recommended Posts

Has anyone actually weighed their DRZ? (kicker) Is the advertised weight correct? I tried the search but could not find a post on this.

There was a big discussion about weight here quite some time ago. I didn't bookmark it. Bottom line was that the bikes are about 10 to 15 pounds heavier than what's listed by Suzuki. But all manufacturers were low by about the same amounts, so you can use the numbers they all provide for comparing.

To get the actual "dry weight" most manufacturers claim, you'd probably have to ash the bike in a furnace.

2.5 gallons of gas plus 1/2 gallon of oil and 1/2 gallon of coolant, all 3 weigh roughly 7 lbs per gallon.

so 3.5 x 7 = 24.5 lbs is added with fluids.

Gas and oil are much lighter than water so your total is more like 21 lbs.

1 gallon of water = 8.33 lbs.

1 gallon of gasoline = 5.8 to 6.5 lbs.

average those out and we are both correct :banghead:

I wonder if 'dry' measurements include fork oil?

It may vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, but generally speaking, "dry weight" means no fluids at all - no fork oil, brake fluid, battery fluid, etc.
