Is there a simple way to lower the fork oil height?

Recommended Posts

03 WR250F. Trying to soften things up a little. What cc of fluid equals how many mm? Can I simply take off the caps and take out 5cc of fluid with a syringe and length of tube?

Changing the oil height only affects the last 1/4 of travel. And less oil means more air, which then builds up pressure faster,, which then makes your first 1/4 of travel harder.

Just go out on your clickers a click or two, or three. Is your bike sprung for your weight? Maybe you need softer springs?

Uhh, no. Less oil does = more air, but since air compresses much easier than oil does you end up with a softer ride from about 1/2 travel to bottom. Lower oil levels make for a plusher ride, thats easier to bottom and rides a little lower in the stroke. Can even help turning a bit.

If you are sure that your oil heights are equal from leg to leg, then just pour out the same amount from each leg. 5cc is about 5mm on a 46mm fork. Or just do it right and pop the caps, remove the springs and use a ruler to make sure its right.
