coastieadler1 Posted September 28, 2005 When I first start my bike, no smoke. While accelerating lightly to moderately... no smoke. If I hit it real hard, as soon as I let off..POOF a big ol cloud of blue burnt oil smoke, then fine again. What do you think. rings? or valve seals? this is on my 03 XR250, Im starting to think shes (the XR) is mad at me for riding the 450 too much

CRFfofiddy Posted September 28, 2005 Valve seals would be my guess due to the increase in vacuum when you chop the throttle. Oil probably gets passed the intake valve seals.
stevecg Posted September 29, 2005 I'd say rings. If it was valve seals there would be smoke on start up due to oil seeping down valve stems. The increase in vacum is seen inside the cylinder (Thats where it's created.) which causes oil to be sucked past the oil ring.
