Fork Oil Capacity?????? 2005 450EXC

Recommended Posts

My buddy has a new KTM he just resprung and he can't find any listing for the quantity of oil to add.

The manuals that came w/the bike say 120-150mm - where is that measurement taken from?

Does anyone know the approximate quantity of oil these forks should take?

I redid mine a couple of weeks ago and my 04 DRZ 400 to 24oz of oil in each fork - should his be similar or what?

You don't just dump a certain amount of oil into forks. You need to check the air chamber and use specs like you listed above. The measurement is from the top of the collapsed fork legs with the spring removed. Make sure you run the damping rod up and down a few times to remove any air in the system.

2 quarts will more than do the job.

120-150mm is measured from the top edge of the outer fork tube with the spring removed and the fork collapsed. Make sure you pump up the inner chamber befor taking the oil measument. You can use a zip tie as a dip stick

If I remember correctly, it takes about 580ml of fork oil per fork to reach roughly 140mm oil height with 48mm forks. :banghead:
