weird knee pain

Hi guys

when i do motions similar to what you do in squat exercises my knees go crazy. There is a sharp pain in both and they feel like creaky door hinges. I've been way more active since school started and have taken up running to. But this pain has been going on for a little while now. I just wanted to know what u guys think. thanks

The pain is probably from the patella.

My reccs:

Advil 4 tabs 4 times per day

Stationary Bike one hour per day

Closed Chain Quad exercises, like the leg press. Avoid the open chain exercises like the knee extension machine.

Expect improvement in a month

should cycling replace my running for now and are your reccomendations in additon to what im doing? thanks a lot for the help

Cycling is much easier on the knees. As you are in a recovery phase now, cycle rather than run. Its less impact on the knees.
