14T Front Sprocket

Recommended Posts

Just changing my front sprocket to 14T (when the new one arrives from Jesse - can't seem to get them in the UK).

I'm sure I read here awhile back that I need to reduce the diameter of the sprocket locking plate by 4mm to avoid fouling the chain, and to ditch the o-ring.

Is that really necessary does anyone know please?

Some will say it is necessary, others not. I didn't bother and 1000 miles later things are all well. The chain will dimple the plate a little but not enough to hurt anything in my opinion. Slap it on and give her hell...she'll be fine!

Like wise. 6,000 miles later,no problem. Just remember to use locktite on the bolts!

I didnt like the chain running on the plate so I shaved 3mm off, it's really

easy to do takes no time at all. the lock plate is not supposed to take

any load directly from the chain, gets things off center and I'm not too

sure what the long term affect will be.... anyhow, call me chicken :banghead:
