smackey Posted October 9, 2005 I've heard of people changing there valve seats so the valves don't break. What do they change them to? Is there anyone in Ireland that does it, England even?? Will stock valves be ok to use with the new valve seat?? Or the stock valve springs?
Suz459 Posted October 10, 2005 I don't know of anyone over seas, but they change the seat material to like a copper-berylium to try and soften the impact on the valves hitting the seat. Titaum valves are fairly soft and the stock seats are very hard. By changing the seat the inpact wont be as bad and wont cup the valves as fast. Hope this helps. motoxbluedog Posted October 10, 2005 That's what I did and it seems to be working. The valves (stock) are lasting well with no movement. The shop I got to do the work said they had the same issues with high performance boat motors a few years ago and there's no dust out on the water. They also placed a spacer under the stock spring to pre load it. They believe the seats are too hard for the valves. They have even had Ti valves made escpecially for these bikes. Start ringing around, you may have to look for high performance tuners for heads, drag motors etc. Someone over there should do it.
