pressurerat Posted October 13, 2005 What engines will fit in a 1984 Yamaha XT 250? I have the bike but no engine.
Vintage Not Pimpage Posted October 16, 2005 If its an Mono-shock XT, An SRX 250 with some minor frame mods (front eng mount bracket) will give you the same engine but with elec start. I have one myself.
agave248 Posted January 3, 2014 Keep in mind the rear engine, swing arm mount is different. i would go with a XT-TT 350 engine. They are much more common, the electric system is a pretty much the same and the mounts are the same.
BruceD_500 My Ride Posted January 9, 2014 SR185 ? SR250 ? XT TT TTR 225 ?
agave248 Posted January 25, 2014 The 84 xt 250 uses the DOHC 4 valve engine. Basically a smaller bore xt 350. The SR 185-250 as well as the TTR 225 have vey different engines SOHC 2 valve, I would take a lot more work to make them fit. The xt 350 was made for a good 15 years and the swap is much simpler. Getting another 100 cc is a nice bonus and it has a 6 speed instead of a 5 speed..
