dp400 Posted October 13, 2005 I need some Header Tape or Heat Tape (not sure what it's called) for my son's BBR pipe that is burning a hole in his pants. I've tried 2 auto parts stores and 2 bike shops - no go ?? Dp
ob1quixote Posted October 13, 2005 TT store. Be sure to get the 1 inch width, 2 inch is no good for bike pipes. Robert
dp400 Posted October 13, 2005 Any idea if you can get it in smaller roles? Just need to cover about 4-5 inches.

chevy383cid Posted October 14, 2005 JEGS, header wrap!! I have used it on 550hp 350's and you can just about touch the headers when the engine is hot and running!!
ob1quixote Posted October 14, 2005 get the large roll. You can generally do 2 bikes. It doesnt last forvever, you should be able to do a small xr twice with full coverage. Wrap to past the carb area, for best effect.
YoungR Posted October 15, 2005 I wrapped mine all the way til under the plate. It makes the area a lot cooler and made more power for me because I run a k&n off the carb right above the pipe.
dp400 Posted October 15, 2005 It looks like there are dif. kinds - is that right? Is there a tape that sticks to the header and also a wrap that you need pipe clamps at the beginning and end of the wrap?? If so which is easier or better to use? dp
johnk408 Posted October 16, 2005 The tape kind is like a heat shield to stick to the plastics.
Dan Wask Posted October 16, 2005 They shove it in a wierd place in the autoparts stores, and don't ask any employees, I was told that such a thing doesn't exist, and after looking in the headlight aisle I found four rolls of it. The 2in worked out fine for me by the way.
ob1quixote Posted October 16, 2005 I like the 1 inch, better for curves and small diameter pipes. Glad the 2 worked out for you!
dp400 Posted October 17, 2005 So the wrap does not stick to your pipe? You keep it on by the use of a clamp? dp
