Newxr100guy Posted October 14, 2005 I have an xr120 motor, it ran fine when I put it away about a week ago it has a season on it already... was never the quietest motor when running. but anyway. I went to start it yesterday and its as if something is mechanically binding when I go to kick it... I took out the spark plug... not sure whats up.. I can see the exhaust valve moving through the spark plug hole but It doesn't seem to want to spin over completely (maybe half a turn or a little more) either with the kickstarter or leaving it one of the gears and rolling it with the spark plug out. it seemed to run fine when I put it away after the ride a week ago. any thoughts it is ridden pretty hard thanks newxr100guy

Newxr100guy Posted October 14, 2005 thanks for the welcome, can you explain a little more what you mean? like a valve sticking open or something it was only about a week or so since the last ride. using racing gas. this has me a little stumped. thanks in advance
GPS Dual Sport Posted October 14, 2005 It has the symptoms of a bike with a stuck valve. I know of one other XR100 owner that had the same trouble. It ran then wouldn't turn over. The problem was a slightly tight exhaust guide. The bike was shut down after some high RPM riding. The engine wasn't at TDC and the exhaust was slightly open when it cooled. The exhaust valve hung up enough to meet the piston the next time it was kick started.
