stock DRZE 2001 main?

Recommended Posts

Just got the shop manual in, and in the specs for the keihin FCR39, it lists the main jet as a #165. Is this correct? I was under the inpression that the #142 was the stock main jet? The manual seems to list the #142 as the 2003,28 stock jet.

I will be re-jetting for 8000-12000ft and was planning on getting the #138 but that seems like a large change from #165.

Which is the stock main jet #142 or #165?

on north american models 142 is the stock main jet.when uncorked at sea level the use 160-165.the spec you saw is for non north american models that have a open exhuast and no snorkel.

sorry about the delay in my reply. Ok so the stock main jet is the 142. The JD jetting kit I purchased contains jets 155-165, and it lists the 155 as the proper jet for above 9000ft. What is the deal? Did I get the wrong kit? Is 155 the proper high altitude jet or is the 138 the proper jet? I am somewhat confused.

OK I'll go with the James dean recs. I will just look at the old jet when I replace with the 155 as reccommended for >9000ft.

Replaced needle with red JD clip #4. Replaced main jet (142) with 160# 2.5-3 turns on fuel screw. Plan on test ride tomorrow. Was a little hard to start initially after the change. We'll have to wait and see on that. seemed to be running very well (in garage). Was much easier than I thought it would be. Didn't even need to take off the carb. Found a socket type standard driver bit which fits right into the fuel screw (sweet saved 15-20 bucks). Will change to the 155 MJ this spring/summer for 8500-12000ft rides.
