What to look for in used 250f's

i am buying a used 250F either a 04 crf or a 04 yzf but i hear bad things about buying thumpers used? is there certain things i shud look for?

All depends if you know who owned it, and how well they took care of it... Just by apperance if it's spotless someone cared...But the question is how well did they maintain the bike, Oil changes, valve clearence etc. Also there riding style did they bounce it off the rev limiter, that wears the valve train really fast. Buying used is always a gamble unless you know who and how they rode and maintained it. Good Luck
