do i continue to swap from street tires to dirt tires or do i get a second set of rims and tires and whant not

i know this can get spendy but do i need to have same

rims or is there an actually street rim that may work aswell for doing the street set of tires

I also plan on having a chain for street and having different gearing aswell

Most guys I know have more than one bike

The dual sport bike is thier dirt bike and they don't use it muc on the street.

I very rarely use mine to go to the store.

There is a guy offering a set of wheels that should fit your bike,

Check this out

With street tires and the right gearing you'd just about have a nice little WR400 motard

As long as the ground is dry and not alot of loose dirt and rock, 80% street/20% dirt tires will go anywhere you want on an average dual sport bike. I don't know about the differences in specs for dirt/street rims

As for gearing, I run a separate set for trail and street.

Trail gears can idle and creep up the slow trails and give a more torquier feel to the engine.

Road gears keep your bikes RPMs down at higher speeds and keeps the vibrations down as well.

I run trail gears around town with no problems, but I stay away from long higher speed runs on the highway.

i know what your saying on the gearing

i dropped a tooth in the front for the woods where i ride. it has lots of real tight turns and first was to slow and i was lugging in second

so i dropped the tooth

it works real nice now

i plan on leaving that one alone and swapping the rear from a 50 to a 53

but for now im hoping to find a smokin deal on some rims so i can have dual sport set up and off road only set up aka quick change fix
