Anodizing

Recommended Posts

What parts, if any, are anodized from the factory on a stock 2003 YZ250F? Also why did they anodize these parts?

Thanks :banghead:

I would image that all aluminum parts are anodized. If it we me, at any rate, I'd anodize them then paint over the anodizing.

You don't want soft aluminum exposed.

Will anodizing come off if it comes in contact with high heat, for example the header and muffler? Can you anodize these things?

Not all aluminum on a bike are necessarily anodized. You can anodize parts that are near heat. Anodizing it done for several reasons: to stop oxidation, insulate and appearance. Hard anodizing will actually create a hard surface, where as standard anodizing can still be scraped away. I have anodized many parts on my wr mostly just for the "bling" factor.

For headers, you do not want to powdercoat.

"Jet Hot" or ceramic coating is what you are looking for for the exhaust.
