2006 TE510 - in my garage

Recommended Posts

Congrats! First one with turn signals I've seen, maybe that will shut the doubters up on it being street legal. When I was at Husky demo day there was a TE510, but we didn't get to ride it. I did ride a TC510 and what a nice motor. Enjoy and give some reports.

Yep. Street legal. I got tag and you can see inspection sticker on fork. :banghead:

while KTM makes the new XC line of short stroke/ close ratio bikes trying to catch up to Husky, note that the new KTM XC line has no spark arrester which is required for riding on public lands. I guess they want race event only bikes and to narrow their market share, while Husky goes the other way, Husqvarna takes a great race bike and gives it to the masses STREET LEGAL!

congrats, watch that street legal jetting, probably best to get JD's jetting kit, remove the excess gas fumes canisters, undo the throttle stop, report in on all those modifications as many more this year will be following in your footsteps.

the stock bars are super strong and need to be drilled out to fit your chosen handguard bar end hardware. Welcome to the pack.

I'm curious, did they come with DOT dual sport tires stock? if so what kind?

if you only meet up trails with that plate dump the dual sport tires, if you really want dual sport tires - Kenda TrackMaster II in the rears and Pirelli MT-16 in the front are the most aggressive set up.

How sweet are these '06 Husky's? I put a $500 deposit on a new TE610 sight unseen after reading up on the specs, reviews and comments on this forum. The bike come in to my dealer last week and and I had a chance to check it out and ride it a little on Saturday. This is an awesome motorcycle. Really smooth with little vibration for a big thumper and pulls like crazy right from an idle. Only complaints so far are funky big rubber covered crappy serrated pegs and it is a little hard to find neutral when stopped. Nice tidy turn signal setup. Mine has a the real small triangular ones up front and the little bit bigger ones in back. I'll get new pegs, handguards and a skidplate and I will be good to go.

Sorry, I know your thread was about the 510 but I could resist saying what a great job Husqvarna is doing with their new bikes.

On the 610 supermoto version my buddy brought to the track, he peeled the rubbers off the footpegs as soon as he realized they messed up shifting. I rode it afterward and the bike was easy to shift and find neutral.

Good point, I never thought about the thick rubber cover on the pegs causing the problem finding neutral. I will check that out. I still don't like the pegs though, even without the rubber cover, they are not as wide as the pegs that come on the 450, 510 etc. and don't have as much serrated area for a good grip.

I'd be willing to bet that somebody on this forum has a set of 450/510 pegs they'll sell you.

I guess since it's a year I can confess on the price I paid. Last year I paid $7900.00 out the door for the 05 TE-510. The MSRP was the same as this year $7199. If you add up tax and license and a small set up fee you get about $8200 tops that you ever should pay on a 510. These bikes are not sitting on show room floors, so pick a good dealer take his price and buy the bike. If you pay a little less then me you got a screaming deal, if you pay a little more then me, well the dealer does have to install those lights. This year I would pay $8100 OTD and be happy for a street legal TE-510. So I think $7900 OTD this year for a TE-510 in CA is a screaming deal. Remember KTMs are more money, MSRPs $200-400 over the huskys and they ain't street legal. Feel good, your re-sale value and ease to sale the bike say in 2-4 years, should you choose to, will be strong too perhaps will be +$1000 over what a non street legal bike would be.

oh yeah the important part. The TE-510 is the Big Bad Wolf. It is pure wide power band Buttery smooth Big POWER..bottom to top...managable and fast n furious. stay on the bike though, get off the wolf and try power walking it thru a bad section and look out, this bike will launch itself straight up in the air like a freaking rocket ship to the moon. You'll learn to feather that clutch and stay up on the tank when your faced with a dead start short tight steep up hill section in first gear. The french word for Wolf is Lupe. and the Big bad 510 will loop up to the moon if you let it.

Bob, I got my '04 TE 510 for $6,000 out the door. Retail was $6,995 at that time. You don't not have to pay full retail. You paid top dollar for yours. Set up fees are just another way to get more money out of you.

yeah well that 04 is ugly too :banghead:. thats ok I still feel very good about my deal and my support from my dealer. But there ya go for the rest of the newbies this year It's all in the art of negociation. and this time of year, ya got to find a dealer who wants to move the bikes rather then not. I suspect a dealer in a small town with fewer buyers will be more willing to sell.......then some SoCal or NorCal dealer..... I dont know. That is a hell of a price Flame paid. I doubt a CA dealer would have sold it for that, but what do i know.

I am right there with you bob.

I payed $7200 list back in Feb. and it was $8100 out the door...with a '05 license plate. It was the first shipment to reach Cali.

Anyone who gets a Te510 2006 for less than $8k out the door is getting a great deal.

Keep in mind this is the EXACT same price as a MSRP CRF450X and its cheaper than a KTM.....and of cours only the Husky has the plate!
