Chase Riding A National 1st Time

Recommended Posts

I Will Be Chase Riding Or Driving For A Friend In His First National

This Weekend. I Will Be Taking Gas And Water (three Loops 50 Miles Each), But I Have Only Been To One Desert Race And I Am Unsure Of

How To Get From One Check Point To The Other Ahead Of Him With Out Crossing Over The Course. I Don't Want To Get Hit Or Get In The Way. I Will Be Either Riding My Wr400 With Gas And Water In A Back Pack Or Driving My Ranger From Point To Point.

I Am A Beginner Rider And I Have Only Sat And Watched One Race

From The Last Check Point, and Advice Would Be Great.

Thanks Wreckless.

I don't know, but there are probably roads from checkpoint to checkpoint; ask the promoters, they should know. As to the bike vs. truck, I'd take the truck because A: you can haul much more stuff, which is good, and B: if you are a beginner, you don't know if you can keep up with the pace of the race while carrying the stuff you need.

Good luck, George

HEY THANKS GEORGE,

I THINK YOUR RIGHT ABOUT TEH TRUCK I'LL GET MY RIDING IN ON SATURDAY

IT WILL BE EASIER TO CARRY THE WATER AND GAS IN THE TRUCK

ITALKED TO MY FRIEND WHO IS RACING AND THE CLUB PUTTING ON THE

RACE WILL HAVE A ROUTE FOR ME TO FOLLOW BUT WITH RACE TRAFFIC I

WILL MORE THAN LIKELY BE AT EVERY OTHER CHECK POINT

LOOKS LIKE ITS GONNA BE A GREAT WEEKEND FOR RIDING WITH THE RAIN

WE HAD EARLY IN THE WEEK AND THE TEMP IS DROPPING(ALWAYS GOOD WHEN RIDING IN THE DESERT).

THE LAST RACE IT WAS CLOSE TO 110 DEGREES ON THE COURSE.

THANKS AGAIN

thank you for all the info i was only allowed to go to the last check point,

expert crashed during the bomb run and needed an heli-evac.

my friend ended up running beginner class and was only duing one 50 mile loop

so no need for fuel.

after check point 4(of five pluss finish line) he was rolling down a steep hill single trac trail that ended in a big woop and a g-out

he hit the woop and cleared the g-out onlt to find a 6 foot drop off into a wash waiting for him on the other side of the g-out

he then heard a loud crack as his left forearm and wrist broke :busted::busted::banghead:

so he rode the bike another 15 min. to the top of a hill and found a raod leading back to camp and checked inwith the medic

long bumpy ride home in my ranger after i loaded the bikes

he is at a arm and wrist spec this afternoon

and we are waiting to hear from him.

he still wants to ride next weekend! :busted:?

we both still managed to have a great time :banghead:
