ShadyatBest Posted October 21, 2005 So i know the time to shim the valves will come and at 10 bucks a pop for stock ones i was wondering if the hot cams kit is worth it. Are stock better then after market when it comes to shims?? Motor damage?? You know. I would rather split the cost of a kit with my buddy that has the same bike then buy 4 at a time. g.l.o. Warror102 Posted October 21, 2005 The Hot Cams kit is a necessity if you own one of these machines, consider it money well spent. The kit is only $80.00 and contains two plastic organizers with three each of 147 different shims. At factory cost this would be $1100.00 dollars! Make sure you get the 9.48mm kit. Riprocken Posted October 21, 2005 Yes I bought it too. The only difference I have noticed is the OEM have more sizes. Example Hotcams goes 175, 180, 185. OEM goes 175, 178, 180, 182, 185. But it doesn't seem to be a big deal, it has served me well so far.
Ronin 26 Posted October 21, 2005 Ya those half sizes from the manufacturer are great..........but you can't order them. You can only order the steps like in the hot cam kit. The shim kit from HC is great!
robr54 My Ride Posted October 21, 2005 Makes me real happy with my local shop, I just take the shims in and tell them what I need and we swap. Wooohooo, freebie!
