Crackling and popping noise when coasting

Recommended Posts

I got a 2004 yz250f and whenever i let off the throttle and coast the bike makes crackling and popping noises out the exhaust. If i give it the slightest amount of gas it goes away. The noise is much louder than most other thumpers that i've heard. It has a pro circuit ti-4 exhaust system on it but it does the same thing with the stock exhaust system. Any help is appreciated.

this is normal when you have an after market exhaust on. you need to adjust you pilot jet, make it richer because its slightly lean , if its hard to start it could even be blocked ,, if you search the forums , there is lots of info on carb setting for your bike

A bit of popping is normal, but if it's excessive, you may be a bit lean. Usually this is the pilot circuit, and you can try opening your fuel screw a bit to see if it lessens. If that doesn't work then try dropping your needle clip one position.
