Quick... what's this??

Hey guys... puttin' the motor back together. Was cleaning some stuff off the bottom and I noticed this hole (see picture) beneath the waterpump. Can anyone tell me what the hell it's for? Should there be anything in it? Thanks...

Water pump vent hole. I think it helps equalize pressure on both sides of the impeller. It's normal.

not sure, but I thought it was the weep hole. Water should drip out when the pump seal needs replacement, no?

looks like a weep hole to me.

ding ding ding YAK was right! It's a WEEP hole. If coolant comes out it's time for some wrenching

*whew* It was just after I had put the right side crank cover back on... and I was thinking 'oh no, something was in that hole and came out in the process, now I have to take it apart again'. Thanks guys...

do you always rebuild a motor when its that dirty???
