flames shooting out of the pipe

i have a 2000 426 and i just put on a new stock pipe...and it blows flames out of the pipe when you gas it and the header pipe glows bright red..what could be wrong? thanks Cody:excuseme:

Glowing bright red is normal especially at night or if it idles more than a minute or two.

Did you have a stock pipe on it before and just change it out for another stock pipe? If you had an aftermarket pipe and replace the stocker then your probably going to have to rejet it. I'd probably just put the stock jets back in.

yes it is a stock pipe. and so was my old pipe

If it backfires now, and it did not before, you have an air leak in the exhaust, either at the head/header, or the midpipe clamp.

Absolutely correct! you should change the exhaust gaskets everytime you remove the exhaust. Just a tiny leak can cause you lots of havoc.
