What should the stock head with a 88cc overbore, valve clearance be set at??
The stock setting is .002 - intake, and .003 - exhaust, but a lot of guys like to run them a little loose at .004. Really just a matter of personal preference.
What is the advantage that they are shooting for by running them loose? Compression??
Apparently to lengthen the amount of time between adjustments,
Or to compensate for accidentally getting them too tight when tightening the nut
experement! .003 (+/- .001") for stock heads
Thanks. What is the advantage that they are shooting for by running them loose? Compression??
i'm pretty sure that's what it is, there's a noticable difference in setting them right at .002 and setting them "loose", i can set mine by hand and have a better running motor compared to having them tight at exactly .002
the exhaust valve is really the only one you want to set at .003-.004 since the seat gets more carboned up than the intake one does. or at least this was teh advice given to me by a trusty "old timer" guy i know that has tons of OLD 50's
