OEM 03 XR250 suspension settings (baseline) ??

Recommended Posts

I don't have an owners manual and was just curious as to what the factory settings are on the front and rear susp.. ie.. how many clicks from full stiff out on compression and rebound etc.

Here is what my manual says:

Always start from the full hard position which is all the way clockwise.

Front:

Compression -There should be at least 19 clicks total adjustment range.

Standard setting is 7 clicks counterclockwise from full hard.

There are no rebound adjustments on the 250. The screws at the top of the forks are bleeders.

Rear:

Compression - Should have at least 20 clicks total adjustment range. Standard setting is turn adjuster counterclockwise 9-12 clicks until the punch mark on the adjuster lines up with the reference mark. In case you don't know which is which compression adj. is the high one just above the nitrogen bottle

Rebound - Should have at least 20 clicks total adjustment range.

Standard setting is turn adjuster 7-10 clicks counterclockwise until punch mark on adjuster lines up with reference mark. Rebound adjuster is the lower one just below the spring.

The reference marks aren't that easy to see (at least on my '03) but it looks to me like both marks are at the 12 o'clock position.

Sag or preload - Measure the spring length with the rear wheel off the ground.

Standard setting is 7.15 inches or 181.5 mm
