Stock handle bars Or Renthals

Whats everyones opinion on the stock handle bars? i was gonna replace mine for a set of renthals. What do you think?

Do it. I'm a Pro Taper fan, but either is better than the stock ones. The first fall will bend the crap out of them.

Get rid of the stock bars. Also add some bar risers so you don't have to reach down so far when you stand.

what he said... i run crf450 kdub renthal. i hear the pro taper's are better but i've yet to bend renthals on either my KDX or DR-Z and I crash a lot.

I bent the stockers in the grass FFS. I just put a set of Tag CR double high, and i like the bend alot,.

Everyone you talk to will say get rid of the original bars even my dealer said that. Pro-Taper myself 1 1/8 Fatties...

I'd go either pro-taper or renthal,,,wait I did. First renthal and then when I changed my triple clamp I went with pro-tapers. Now the renthals are on my tengai and doing just fine there.

The windam/carmichael is a bit taller but even more important not nearly as swept back as the cr-hi's. That has been my experience at least.

What's needed to mount the Fatbars on an SM? What happens with the mounting hardware for the key tumbler? Will the rest of the controls just bolt on to the thicker bars?

The rest of the controls will certainly bolt right up if you mean the ones on the ends of your bars. Pro tapers/fat bars are only larger in diameter where they bolt to the triple clamps, the part your hands grab are the standard diameter.

Not sure if you can but I think with the sm you may be able to just replace your bar clamps, on the rest of the drzs you would need to add an adapter or replace you top triple clamp with one that has seperate bar clamps you can get in the 1 1/8" size.

get the universal adapter kit from pro taper.it bolts on to where the stock bar caps go.they also give you more height.my key is zip tyed to the clamp but i saw a pic somewhere of the key mount on the upper triple clamp pinch bolts.

I'm running Renthals for an RM80, much taller than stock and narrower.

I like Rentals myself. Burned put the heavy duty bars on the SM. I'm used to them now, so they are ok. I got to admit though as a bit of a traditionalist I like the thinner bars. The Renthals hold up to just about anything this side of throwing it off of a switchback. That would be the way I'd go. prairiedawg ?

Mate,I just brought a 06 drz every artical i read said the bike has bad ergos,so i replaced mine with the tallest renthals and it made a wiked amout of difference,more room to move.

I just ordered some MSR bars from the TTstore. How do they rate in comparison to the others? I also finally got around to ordering my extended shift lever (MSR as well)...

Better than stock for sure, are they aluminum or steel? IMO not as good as either protaper or renthal

Then they are much better than stock. Basically the only thing worse then the stock bars is if they used pasta to make them out of.
