Where to ride in ONF?

Recommended Posts

There's alot of talk about Ocala National Forest right now regarding what's allowed and what's not allowed and where. They've recently made some changes to the park. I have yet to ride there myself, but plan on doing so very shortly, so I also have been researching. The really sad part is I'm only about 1.5 hrs away-pretty sad. Here are a few links to help orient you to the park. To my knowledge, the only places to ride right from your site are the primitive sites. I might be wrong, and if I am I'm sure someone will correct me.

I'm sure you'll get some good feedback from a few of the regulars.

Want to come down from NC. Where are the best places to go? Are there any from this place www.eliteresorts.com/saltSprings/maps/default.asp? Any other places to stay where you can ride right from the room?

Just come down I 75 another 55 miles till you get to Croom. There is a Hotel right there at the riding area. Beware to bring bikes in Hotel.

Welcome to Elite Resorts. I own a camp lot there, lot #475. There are great trail right across RT19 from the camp. But if you don't have a tag you have to trailer your bike about 5-miles from the camp. It is right down the dirt road to the Ferry. There is another good area about 10-minutes drive from there called Lake Delaney. About 20-minute away is an area called big scrub. I haven't been there but I know guys that like it. You should have a GPS anywhere you ride in Ocala National Forest if you haven't been there before. It is very easy to get turned around.

At Lake Delaney they recently opened some trails for bikes only, no quads, Google Ocala National Forest and you should be able to get the latest maps. Have fun and enjoy lake Kerr.

Thanks for the info guys. I am bringing another guy from NC and meeting a guy from Port Charlotte. We are looking to mainly do some trail riding. Thought we would hit ONF for a couple of days and then maybe Croom.

Here is an update. Looks like we are going to ride thursday, friday, and saturday at ONF. The impression I get is that it is so big that we won't get tired of it, even with the closures. Am I wrong? I can't wait until next week ?

Your not wrong, the place is huge. Ditto on the GPS and a camel back would come in handy, also.
