07.JPG

"Woody 4x4".

08.JPG

I'm guessing they ditched the body because it was too rusty. or maybe wood is just cooler. the frame is mini truck {helux}, the the rear axle is American or chines, the mud flaps are isuzu.............. I'm lost as to where the Willies jeep body fits in to the mix. but the owner said it was on there not long ago....... i love the 3rd world for this kinda stuff!!!!

10.JPG

The guys next door have a nice Toyota for a duck coop.

23.JPG

As day turned into night, we ran into a series of hand built bridges. theses are the ones you take your time on. do it right the first time, no second chances!!!. this is the only surviving picture..........and it sucks. headlight off and flash on would work better. but that might not be so safe!!!

26.JPG

A very basic guest house.

27.JPG

Our last night as a group. The beer, port, wine, splifs, and BBQ beef strips where all flowing. a good night!!

DAY 12

Safe place for a morning nap.

01.JPG

The owners of the guest house had a flash new tractor towing thing. same as what tows the trailers on the roads. but this one was fitted with rice patty wheels and a plow set.

02.JPG

03.JPG

In the morning we did a bit of a side trip to try to find the crocodiles. couldn't find them. our guide said they where one valley over. we had no time to fined them at this point it was 9:30 am and there was a long day ahead of us.

04.JPG

The track we where riding used to be a 20m wide dirt road. there used to be a big bridge here.

05.JPG

When the water is low you can just ride through the water. but when its high you have to load your self and bike on the 2 barrels and pull your self along the cable.

06.jpg

07.JPG

08.JPG

09.JPG

Note the cherry bomb exploding in the water. BOOM!!! ?

10.JPG

Yet another of many.

15.JPG

Coming down out of the {small} "mountains" . in the back ground is Metoek inlet of the the gulf of Thailand, and a river delta.

16.JPG

From the ocean viewpoint, it was a "fast" dark 150km on a dirt highway with 4 ferry crossings. then 140km on pavement back the the capital city PP. the only snag was a flat tire............

17.JPG

That is basically it for the 12 day Extreme Rally Raid tour. 2006

Cambodian coastal adventure riding/camping pics will be up soon!

There is a 40 day stretch in the pictures. i could not do all 40 days as i have above. it would take forever to edit, host, post all the pictures.

The main part of the trip was only 12 days. i have included most of the good pictures from before and after the 12 day tour. also, some of them would not be appropriate to post. :bonk:

I just got my hands on another memory card!!

below are a few choice shots from it ??:bonk:

*also posted edited in at the end of the other pics*

Hi, first let me say what great pics and commentary, you guys sure had a blast, can I ask a few questions?

1. Was there just the 1 guide/translator chappie that came with you on the trip?

2. Did you take your own helmets/boots etc. with you from home or were they supplied?

3. How easy was it to get hold of some weed for relaxing in the evening and were those army guys at the checkpoint trying to bust you or were they just being nosy?

4. Would there be any chance of you sending me some of the inappropriate pics to mail@stephengurney.com

Thank Steve

were those army guys at the checkpoint trying to bust you or were they just being nosy?

I lived in cambodia for the past 3 years of my life, while living there i became close friends with many of the members of the riding community and bike shop owners there. With my friends and my 2000 crm250 i was able to travel through virtually every part of "raped and lawless country" as you would say, i do have to admit that i agree heavily with your opinion in referring to it as so. But i must give the country credit, the people are very welcoming and friendly(especially to dirt bikers) and the countryside is beautiful. I was very excited to see this post especialy since i have been to every place in the photos on my bike as well. I am also excited that by posting these pictures you are showing the large tt community of the great riding possibilities there in cambodia, these photos may encourage people to visit and enjoy the wondurful place of cambodia and in doing so helping the economy and people. Also this is nice for me to see since in the past few months i have left cambodia and moved to quito, ecuador. Hopefully i will be able to enjoy this new place as the last one.
