2/27 OHV Commision meeting

Todays meeting was a bit milder than the last few I've attended. Most of the commission has finally understood the rules of the competitive grants process and tried to work within the rules. Jeeze, it only took a law suit, blocking of the 46 grant requests, scheduled JLAC hearing, and report by the state LAO to recommend not funding the grants for the 2006-2007 session.

I didn't stay until the end of the meeting. Most of the restoration grants got the required substantiation for the score changes......no surprise there.

Some of the other grants got their scores changed to the division recommendations.

Because of the score changes, some grants that got money during the Dec. meetings may fall off the bottom of the list and not get funded. That's the way the process is suposed to work, the best ones get funded. We'll have to wait until the new scores get posted by the OHMVR division on their web site to see the changes. The division has been good about posting the information as soon as it has been verified.

MANY times during the day, the public reminded the commissioners that they must score on the criteria of the grants, not their personal agenda.

The next meeting is scheduled for Mar. 10. That could be another "Jerry Springer" meeting, try to attend even though it is on a Friday.
