The brochures say 06's have bigger valves, new cam and porting. Has anyone rode both and could you tell the differance? Thanks

just run in a 06 450. compered to a 05 bike seems like much more usable power. bike feels taller, and better suspended, the marzzochi 50,s need a bit of work for a heavyer guy, less oil heavyer springs etc. all in all it feels totally different maybee, the bars and lighter weight! plastics fell apart running it in!!!!

There are a number of other changes:

Rear caliper. Wider front. Higher compression. Different gasket. Improved kickstart lever. Different primary drive ratio. Changes in gearing. Trip meter is different....and of course all the street legal stuff.

For sure the '06 power increase is noticable. For sure. The '05 is a fast and powerfull bike--but the '06 has just a bit more.

All the changes are nice refinements to a solid bike. For newer riders the '05 is fine--but for full race the '06 is better.

The 06 have loads of changes & more power. The original 04/05 bikes have always been classed as well quick bikes.

The gearing on the 06 is better spread if you ride lots of wide open stuff + on the road.

The 06 5th gear on the 450/510 is almost 6th gear on the 05/04 bikes. The 6th is another 11.5% lower. So much better in my opinion. 50Zochi forks are very nice also

The change in gearing is due to a change in the primary gearing.....the tranny ratios remain the same. An equivalent change can easily be accomplished by changing the secondary gearing via the sprockets.
